Sheet Masks
What is sheet mask?
Sheet masks are just masks in the form of sheet, the sheets are absorbed with good rich ingredients which will absorb into your skin quickly. Its a 20 minute spa time, your just relaxing/ rejuvenating your skin. The best part about these sheet masks is that they don't drip, you can smile/ talk while having this thing on your face.
Recently many International brands and Indian brands are coming up with different masking ideas and one of the popularly known product is SHEET MASKS. Everyone is talking about how they provide your skin 1 bottle of hydration in each pack, etc..

Personally I haven't really experimented with different brands but, yes! I have used sheet masks from The Face Shop. They have it in different variants & concerns. To a certain point I do agree with what they state but are they really great? Do they actually work like wonder on your skin?
Application Process
Every sheet mask come in a rectangular packaging, they have groves on the sides, that's where you have to tear it apart from, do it carefully and make sure you don't tear apart the sheet inside. You have to take out the mask and unfold it, its in a translucent paper, you have holes on the eyes, nose and mouth area. You have to just adjust it according to your face and after that wait for 15-20 minutes. After 20 minutes take it from the chin towards fore head and fold the sheet and massage it in circular motion on your face and neck.
Pros
- It feels hydrating - be it of any variant it will definitely hydrate your skin.
- Easy to use - you don't have to apply it and then wash off, its meant to be on your skin for whole night.
- Relaxing - whenever you use sheet mask you will feel relaxed, as it feels cooler on the skin.
Cons
- Pricier - as compared to other masks they are expensive as for a single use you have to pay ₹100.
- Wastage - its a lot of serum, (zaruat se zada hota h) you just can't finish it in one use.
- Not good for the environment - the outer packaging is made of plastic, as for the sheet none of the brands have mentioned.
My Personal Review
It's definitely a feel good product but to be honest I don't really find it helpful in any way. Sites generally present you offers like "Buy 1 Get 1", " Buy 10 Pay for 5", etc.. in this case we end up getting 10/15/20 sheets, just think how much it would harm the environment. Though, they claim the masks to be biodegradable, but that doesn't mean they are easy on the planet, yes it would take lesser time than plastic itself but who knows!, and the packaging!, its made up of polyester they take years to degrade, they are made up of polyester so some of them never ever really degrade and they are just getting filled into the land fills. If you can avoid them completely then its the best thing to do. You can keep a couple of them for a backup option but you shouldn't be keeping it as a primary option.
The amount we spent on a single sheet is around 100 or 50 sometimes, but if we save it and buy a sleeping mask, will save our money & environment. Or, Innisfree comes with 10 ml tubs of sleeping masks in different variants for ₹140/150, and you can get 5 to 6 uses out of it.
Their's a lot present in a single sheet, (matlab yar kitna bhi gale me hath me laga lo vo khatam hone ni wala), its just not enough for a single use, if you have the patience to store the remaining liquid then let it be in the packaging and store it in the fridge and you can apply the serum for next couple of days.
